Productivity apps were a lie.

You opened the app this morning. You saw the streak: 47 days. You felt the urgency. You checked the boxes. You closed it. You did not get anywhere.

The category sold you a story: track more, do more. The data says the opposite. Streak-driven apps cause anxiety in 100% of participants in peer-reviewed studies. LinkedIn, Foursquare, Google News all rolled their badge programs back after watching the user data. Habitica's quest-system caused measurable cognitive overload in every single subject. The leaderboard is a tax on attention, not a reward.

What we don't build

  • No global leaderboards on personal metrics. Your sleep is not a competition. We don't rank you against strangers.
  • No badges that don't signal a real skill. "100-day journaler" tells nobody anything. A badge is a receipt for actual mastery, not for showing up.
  • No hard streaks without freeze days. The EU Digital Fairness Act flagged streaks in 2026 for a reason. Snapchat was sued for them. We give you two freeze-days a month, by design.
  • No engagement theater. Notifications that don't say something true earn the right to be silent.

What we build instead

  • Apple-rings, not streaks. Rings reset every day. No accumulated guilt. Closure is the reward; resuming tomorrow is the design.
  • Anticipation, not punishment. You open fyouf to see what's new — a pattern, an insight, a question worth answering — not to escape what you lost.
  • Signals of mastery, not activity. Minutes practiced, on-time rate, net worth growth. Real numbers about real progress, not counters for the sake of counting.
  • Cross-module knowledge. Your money knows about your meals. Your tasks know about your goals. Your notes link to your journal. One workspace, one source of truth.

The bet

Linear sells engineers a tool that gets out of their way. Notion sells everyone a tool that becomes their way. We're selling a third thing: a tool that makes the way visible. What you spend time on. What you keep abandoning. What actually correlates with the days you feel good. We show you, you decide.

The market trained you to expect a productivity app to feel like work. fyouf is a bet that the right one feels like reading a good book about yourself.
